An Exhibition of 12 size A1 posters telling the story of this lovely Manor House set deep in rural Wiltshire.
This exhibition tells the tale of some of the men and women who helped create the magic of this special House.

Lady Constance consorted with the Bishop while her husband was on crusade, then
outlived three more husbands. Lawyer Thomas Tropnell accumulated 50 Wiltshire properties, including seven manors, and built Great Chalfield much as we see it today. William Tarrant recorded the garrisoning of 150 soldiers at Great Chalfield during the Civil War- much damage is still evident. Bigamous Elizabeth Chudleigh, wife of the Duke of Kingston, became notorious in London Society. Handsome Admiral Sir Harry Burrard-Neale, MP, who captured 25 French ships, was a friend of royalty and an enthusiastic historian. The Reverends Lewis and Warner preserved remnants of wall paintings in the parish church which has a Norman nave, an early font and a modern stained glass window of local wildlife. Alfred Parsons, RA PRWS designed the 7 acre Arts and Crafts garden making use of the medieval features and the spring-fed moat. Robert Fuller, engineer and manager at Avon Rubber, restored the Manor 1905-1912 and, with his wife Mabel, gave it to the National Trust in 1943.

Today, the Manor is the home of their grandson's family, and is used as a location for films such as 'The Other Boleyn Girl', 'Wolf Hall' etc.
